Eligibility

Any B.Sc/B.E. or B. Tech /B.A. Geography in the relevant stream with a minimum aggregate of 55% and above from a recognized university. (5% relaxation in case of SC/ST category)

First Year M. Sc. : Candidate shall have a degree certificate of B.Sc. in Physics / Applied Physics / Electronics / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics /Computer Science / IT/ Geo-Engineering / Urban and Regional Planning / Agriculture / Atmospheric Sciences / Botany / Climatology / Chemistry / Disaster Management/ Environmental Science / Geology /Applied Geology/ Geophysics/ Information Science/Forestry/ Meteorology / Oceanography / Soil Science/ Water resources/ Ecology / Botany / Wildlife Science / Biosciences / Zoology / Life Sciences or its equivalent OR B.Sc. in Remote Sensing / Geoinformatics/ Geomatics or its equivalent OR B.E./ B. Tech. in any branch of Engineering OR BCA OR Bachelors in Geography with aggregate 50% marks.

Duration

The course duration is of two years which is divided into four semesters. In starting three semesters, students will be engaged in theory classes, practical classes, field visits, presentations and personality development etc. In the fourth semester, students will undergo project/dissertation of six months having hands-on training and research experience in various renowned government organizations, universities, companies etc.

About Us

The key focus of this program is to develop students’ skills in various domains including remote sensing, GIS, GPS, spatial modelling methods, exploratory data analysis and visualization with a focus on Earth, environmental sciences, and climate change. The course emphasizes on the potential of data acquisition from satellite sensors integrated with GIS which may be used as an interdisciplinary approach to spatial decision-making and solving real-world problems.

Teaching process involves both hands-on experience and the exploration of fundamental concepts and methods of Geoinformatics and is linked to research undertaken at the centre. Outreach activities, internships, and research collaborations ensure that our students gain insights into the real-world problems and applications leading to enhanced opportunities for a better career in the field of Geoinformatics.
Masters in GIS is an emerging field and has vast applications for resource development, planning and management. There is a good scope for scientists, engineers, academicians/researchers, NGOs, service, and utility sector personnel, planners and decision-makers.

The Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur is a renowned University, established by an Act of State Legislature in the State of Rajasthan by the Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur Act, 2008 (Act No. 16 of 2008).
