Eligibility

10+2 examination with Physics, Biology & Chemistry as compulsory subjects, conducted by a recognized board or its equivalent examination with 60% marks. (5% relaxation in case of SC/ST category)

  • Candidate should have passed 10+2 (12th standard) or equivalent examination with science stream i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 45% marks for general and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidate.
  • Candidate should have completed the minimum age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year admission to B.P.T. degree course.
  • Every candidate before admission shall furnish a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized Government Medical Officer that the candidate is physically fit to undertake the Physiotherapy course.


    Minimum Qualification for Admission:

First Year B.P.T. Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Biology (P.C.B.) and or Biology (P.C.M.B.) as optional subjects individually. Any other qualification approved by the AICTE as equivalent to any of the above examinations.


B.P.T Lateral Entry (to third semester):

A pass in Diploma in Physiotherapy (D.P.T.) course from an Institution approved by the AICTE/UGC can take admission in the third semester BPT

Duration

The course of B.P.T. is extended in a total duration of 4 years which is divided into 8 semesters with 6 months internship. In all 8 semesters, students will be engaged in theory classes, practical classes, industrial visits, presentations, personality development etc. 5th semester onwards students will undergo a clinical posting in hospitals & clinics for their clinical exposure.

Programme Details:

Physical therapy (or physiotherapy), often abbreviated PT, is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention carried out by Physical Therapists or Physiotherapists and Physical Therapist Assistants or Physical Rehabilitation Therapists.

It is one of the Allied health professions that, by using mechanical force and movements [Bio-mechanics or Kinesiology], Manual therapy, exercise therapy, and electrotherapy, remediates impairments and promotes mobility and function. Physical therapy is used to improve a patient's quality of life through examination, diagnosis, prognosis, and physical intervention. It is performed by physical therapists (known as physiotherapists in many countries)


Facilities:

The Physiotherapy Department is equipped with well organized classrooms and Laboratories of Anatomy lab, Physiology lab, Exercisetherapy lab, Electrotherapy lab, Musculoskeletal & Sports activity lab, Neurology & Paediatric lab etc.

The students are encouraged to prepare projects of specific subject in their laboratories where teachers work together with students, which helps students to understand the concepts practically.

The students are facilitated with departmental library to get the books of specific subjects.
