Suresh Gyan Vihar University School of Pharmacy established on 2003 is one of the leading colleges for pharmacy course with all the modern amenities and highly qualified staff. The department of Pharmacology plays an intrinsic role in research activity. The department is well equipped with all major modern equipments, computer softwares and also animal house facility.
The Animal House facility is an important facility to have better practical skills for Pharmacology subject. The main aim for the in-house animal facility is to boost the teaching and training of Undergraduates, Postgraduates and PhD students of pharmacy. Moreover Animal house facility acquaints students for better practical and technical skills in the emergent field of Experimental Pharmacology.
Suresh Gyan Vihar university (SGVU) has an animal house facility (Registration number:- 1234/a/08/CPCSEA) in school of pharmacy for experiments on animals . The Animal house is handled by a technical personnel and the department ensures that the animal house facility is always in accordance with standards and the facility is well maintained and strictly regulated by Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) and the guidelines issued by Institutional Animal ethics Committee (IAEC).
The animal house facility comprises of a quarantine room, experiment room, In-house animal facility and feed storage room. All these room are well ventilated, air-conditioned, cleaned and UV protected. It is also ensured that the animals are housed in well cleaned cages maintained effectively under appropriate environmental conditions i.e. Temperature (22-26°C), Relative Humidity (60 ± 10 %), 12 hr alternate light and dark cycle. Moreover it is also ensured that proper hygiene is maintained and the facility has 100% fresh air, and uninterrupted supply of water and electricity.
Regular meetings are conducted by the members of Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) and by Institutional Animal ethics Committee (IAEC) to ensure proper maintenance of animal house facility and for the purpose of inspection of establishment and approval of project(s) for experiments on animals.
