Central Instrumentation Facilities

Suresh Gyan Vihar School of pharmacy having central instrumentation facilities (CIF)with modern instruments.Modern instruments are most essential part of research activities. The Central Instrument Facility (CIF) has been created with a concept of providing characterization services to the researcher within university. The facility was inaugurated on 2003. The CIF has a complement of sophisticated instruments including specialized research facility housing several sophisticated state of the art instruments. It has been created with an objective of providing a central facility of latest and Advanced Analytical Instruments for research in the application areas of physical, biological, allied and interdisciplinary sciences. It caters to the interdisciplinary applications in research to all such facilities including academic research institutes.

Name of equipment:

  • Digital PH meter:
  • A pH meter is an analytical instrument that measures the acidity or basicity of a solution, a key parameter for many applications in various industries.

  • Digital conductivity meter:
  • A conductivity meter measures the amount of electrical current or conductance in a solution. Conductivity is useful in determining the overall health of a natural water body. Conductivity meters are common in any water treatment ormonitoring situation.

  • Digital potentiometer:
  • A potentiometer is a variable resistor that can be used in a circuit to control resistance, current, and voltage through a circuit to attain a certain output.

  • Digital turbidity meter:
  • Turbidity meters measure the loss in light beam intensity as it passes through, of a fluid containing suspended particles.

  • UvSpectrophotometer:
  • UV-Vis spectrophotometer is used to determine the concentration of specific analytes in a micro volume by controlling the analysis wavelengths and the path length.

  • High-performance liquid chromatography:
  • High-performance liquid chromatography, abbreviated as HPLC, is a chromatographic technique of great versatility and analytic power used in many aspects of drug manufacturing and research.

  • Dissolution test USP:
  • A dissolution experiment evaluates the rate and extent that a compound forms a solution under carefully controlled conditions.

  • Brookfield viscometer:
  • The Brookfield Dial Viscometer measures fluid viscosity at given shear rates. Viscosity is a measure of a fluid’s resistance to flow.

  • Flame photometer:
  • Flame Photometry is based on measurement of intensity of the light emitted when a metal is introduced into flame. Ø The wavelength of color tells us what the element is (qualitative). The color's intensity tells us how much of the element present (quantitative).

  • Karl fischer apparatus:
  • Karl Fischer titration is a classic titration method in chemical analysis that uses coulometric or volumetric titration to determine trace amounts of water in a sample.
