Suresh Gyan Vihar School of pharmacy has two well facilitated chemistry labs (chemistry lab 1 and chemistry lab 2) and one chemical storage facility.
The department of pharmaceutical chemistry is one of the important branches in the pharmacy. It enables students to learn about the chemical nature of the drug and its synthesis. It also involves the method of preparation of pharmaceutically important products. The Labs in Suresh Gyan Vihar School of Pharmacy is equipped with state of the art facilities to undertake academics in Diploma, degree, masters and PhD of Pharmacy course. Moreover, the latest equipments and facilities helps impart good practical training to the students and ensure an unshakable foundation in both practical and theoretical concept. The department has a Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab (Inorganic / Organic Chemistry Lab) and central instrumental laboratory.
Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a unique blend of the corporal and biotic sciences. It is a new chief disciple of drug designing focusing on drug discovery, organic synthesis of medicinal agents, molecular modeling, drug metabolism, molecular toxicology and aspects of natural products and computational chemistry in close combination with chemical biology, enzymology and structural biology development of new therapeutic agents i.e., understanding their structure-activity relationships (SAR). It involves chemical aspects of identification and synthetic alteration of new chemical entities to make them suitable for therapeutic use. The School of pharmacy is equipped with labs with all important chemical, reagents, catalysts and solvents for synthesis reaction.
The laboratories have all the necessary equipment for preparation of samples and standards for various analyses of liquid and solid samples. The laboratory houses traditional equipment including glassware, fume hoods, a muffle furnace, centrifuge, aggregate mill, and ovens.
